Okay so my computer has contracted vicious virus that not only replaced my desktop with some appallingly spelled warnings, also totally fucked it up so it won't boot beyond the Windows XP screen.

I'm wondering what the third mechanical failure for me will be. I'm hoping desperately it'll be like, my iPod or something rather than you know, the plane to SF I'm boarding on Thursday *knock on wood*.

So, I'm out a computer, all my summer pics, my school papers, my applications, my ebooks, and my 25 gb of music. If I can't get in there long enough to back everything the hell up I might commit digital harakiri and be that one crazy chick who still uses CD-roms and paper printouts. I've already read more paperbacks in the past two days than I have since I got outta school.

S'okay. I'm excited to see [info]myndii on Thursday! I haven't visited SF since my fifth grade school trip, so I'm essentially a NorCal noob.

Man I miss my music. I had just started rediscovering the genius of Billie Jean and P.Y.T. in the aftermath of MJ's passing, too (his memorial service? Fucking insane).

I've become a moocher! I spend entire days in my pjs, watching CSI, trying out new recipes, and reading cheap paperbacks. And to tell you the truth, I have no idea if having a car would make much of a difference right now... Oh, boy. I've given the Bowers a copy of my resume, and hopefully they'll give me something to do, but am not sure when will have car. Not sure if I have the balls to drive again, actually.

Christ, I need to go out and exercise and do stuff. Instead, I've been making homemade butter and baking amaretti cookies. I can make some very refreshing raspberry limeade-ish drinks now. It is delicious with mint and a splash of gin. I'm just sayin'.

apparently there's a way to get your stuff back even if you can't boot up your computer. i'm not really sure how exactly it's done, but i know there is data recovery equipment out there. i'd start with google, when you have access to another computer.
